We went to the Coast...

... and it was lovely! We had a really great time this weekend camping and playing on the beach. We decided Friday afternoon to just pack up and head out. We arrived at a campground called Cape Lookout at about 9:00 pm only to find out it was full. We drove about 20 minutes to a different site that had vacancies. Mike surprised Liam and me by renting a cabin instead of just a tent site. This turned out to be very fortunate because Liam didn't sleep very well- he would have kept up all the campers around us if we were in a tent. We ate tin foil dinners, which we cooked over our new $12 coal grill!

In the morning we went on a nature hike that was so beautiful. The campground is right near a creek with waterfalls and everything. There were ferns and trees of every kind. It was a really beautiful place.

We had lunch at a seafood place in Tillamook (which was delicious) and celebrated our anniversary (which is actually today- Aug. 10). We then went to Oceanside beach, where we rode our bikes, chased the seagulls, walked through a cave, took lots of pictures, and just had a great time. Liam got splattered with mud during the ride, which he didn't mind at all. He enjoyed eating the sand, in fact. He kept chewing on rocks, too. Disgusting! We met up with the Howard clan that evening for dinner at their rented house on the beach. They are family reunion-ing this week. Anyhow, here are the pictures from our wonderful weekend:

The way there... Mike wanted to make sure to get the watch in the shot.

We set up the pack-n-play in the cabin, hoping that Liam would sleep there for the night. He liked to play in it, but sleep? No.

Chef Mike preparing the coals.

We had a private bridge to our cabin.

They call it the Victorian large cabin. There are 3 beds, a microwave, and a television (with VCR).

We're going for a walk...

This stump was so cool. Look at all those colors.

Some of the fabulous scenery.

Good thing we had the rugged jogging stroller. Mike is easing it down a cliff.

This is the only picture we got at lunch. Liam liked to wear daddy's hat... for about 5 seconds.

Now for beach pictures.

This cave was basically a slit in the wall with a larger opening near the bottom. It looked like someone had been inside, though, because there were beer cans visible. Real classy.

The fog was very cool.

On the other side of the beach, near the cliffs, is another cave that you can walk through. It provides access to another part of the beach, where the waves were quite intense. These windows were along the entrance to the cave- cut into the cement sides. Cute photo opp if you ask me!

This is how we spent most of our time on the beach...

...which is how this happened.

Liam didn't mind, though. He liked to lick it off his hands.

He also liked eating all the sand on the beach and chewing on the rocks.

When he wasn't grinding bits of sand and rocks through his teeth, he was chasing sea gulls, of course.
That was our trip to the coast. We loved it. Until next time!

This post has seriously taken me all day because the photos take forever to upload. So, I uploaded these and more to a facebook album. Check them out here.

I have a video coming also- Liam says "Quack!"-- sort of.
