Caaaan yoooou giive uuuus direeeeectioooons?

The other night, Chelsie and I took the boy to watch that BBC/Disney movie "Earth." Liam was such an excellent baby, he was quiet the entire time and didn't bother any of our fellow moviegoers. Did I say he was quiet the entire time? I take that back. Here's how the story goes:

He was either eating, dozing or just sitting like a blob for 99.9% of the time. In the meantime, Chelsie and I were enjoying the really cool footage of polar bears, humpback whales, elephants, and some really beautiful images of God's earth.

At one point during a segment about the humpback whales, the soundtrack included the momma and baby whales talking to each other, making those deep, bellowy "oooooooHHHH" noises that whales make. All of a sudden, our blob of a baby became rigid and alert, and fixated his eyes on the movie screen. Something about those whale calls resonated (literally) with the kid, and his interest piqued.

Next thing you know, our Liam was "oooOHHHH" -ing back at the screen, as if he was communicating with them. Holy cow, it was amazingly funny! "ooooHH! ooooHH!!" he said. Chelsie and I laughed so hard.

After getting home that evening, we decided to try our hand at whale impersonating. He laughed and imitated our sounds. It was a conversation of idiotic parents talking with their three-month old in humpback whale-ese. Now, whenever we talk with him, we do our best whale impressions, and if he's in a talkative mood, he will respond in kind. What a weirdo. Remind you of somebody?
