Liam and I were talking today. He was lamenting the fact that the U.S. is no longer a hegemon--a fact that we have both realized for a few years (though the general populace has disputed). The discussion started out stimulating enough, but things fell apart when we disagreed on exactly when America had surpassed its zenith: my argument is that it began when the high-minded and entitled "manifest destinati" sought empire--and attained it! Ever since then, our nation has grown toward fat and lazy. It took a couple of centuries to get from there to where we are, but the catalyst of our woes germinated way back then, when we thought we were entitled to everything. That attitude has become a part of our sickeningly selfish individualism, and our greed and pride is now beginning to overcome us, after rotting the soul of America for aaaaall these years.
Liam takes the easy way out, and blames everything on W. Then again, I guess I've read more books than he has.
So, by the time our conversation disintegrated, his vocabulary had been reduced to babbling--he knew I was right. It took Chelsie a while to get the camera out, so we didn't get the best part of the debate (the part where I made him cry). Man, we even had podiums set up and everything!
Anyhow, not the most stimulating of conversations with the boy, but nevertheless, you can hear him speaking now. We hope you enjoy!
