5 month check-up

The babies had their 5 month check up yesterday. From the moment we squeezed through the doorway in our double-wide stroller, all eyes were on our little cuties!  All of the kids in the waiting room were excited and happy to see two cute babies.  The nurses and doctors all took a minute as we were walking to the room to gawk and tickle their bellies.  Of course, they responded well, smiling and giggling at everyone.
Lucas is still a little peanut, weighing in at 12 lbs 14 oz and measuring 24 inches in length.  That puts him less than fifth percentile for all measurements (about 3%).  He has maintained his own curve and is proportional.  He is growing and doing very well; just a tiny little thing.  He is very strong and has a great sense of balance.  I showed the doctor our trick- where we hold him by his feet and balance him on our palm.  He smiled and cooed just right and is just doing so well.

Jude is small, too, but bigger than his brother.  He weighed 14 lbs 9 oz and measured 25.5 inches in length.  That puts him in about the 20% across the board.  He jumped from about the 15% to 20%, which is good.  He is also performing well.  The doctor was impressed with his mobility and said he'd probably be crawling in the next few weeks.  Seriously!  This kid is wiggly!  He's a little more of a bobble head than Lucas.  However, he sits up very well.  In fact, just last night he sat up (without help) for at least 2 minutes straight.  He was watching his brothers play.

Anyway, they did well and are totally perfect!  (except that they won't sleep for their Mama!)

They had their 4 month immunizations and screamed, of course, but held hands and comforted each other afterward.  It was so cute to see them help each other like that.  They are their brother's favorite play thing and best friend already.  I love to see that!

4 Months

This is a post I wrote at my chelsiebrady.wordpress.com blog, but since nobody reads that blog anymore, I thought I'd post here, too. :)

4 Months

That's how long it's been since I've done any painting.Image
That's how long my house has been messy and the laundry's been backed up.
That's how long it's been since I've had a decent night's sleep.Image
That's how long it's been since I've gone anywhere by myself.Image
Sometimes I feel like I'm not getting it all done.Image
That I'm not a very good wife or housekeeper or visiting teacher or Relief Society teacher or sister or daughter or aunt or, worst of all, Mother. Image
Then Liam will choose to play with his homemade rocket over his other toys, or ask to snuggle with me, or one of the babies will quiet down when they hear my voice.Image
And I realize
Image
This has been a really productive 4 months.Image
I still have dirty floors. I still have no new paintings to speak of. Sometimes we have frozen pot stickers for dinner... at 9:00 pmImage
But I am so blessed. I have 3 awesome boys. A great husband. Wonderful friends and family. And happiness.

What a wonderful life!

Liam made sugar cube temples in nursery. Boy! I love nursery! He also came home saying, "Jesus was resurrected!" and "Jesus loves me!"

A look around

I realized the other day that I haven't shown you around the boys' room yet. Soon I think the babies will need to be separated- they're waking each other up- so things might have to change again. I'll show you how it looks right now, though.

Liam's side.

The shelf is that project that I took on while hugely pregnant. The "drawers" are actually banker's boxes with fabric faces. There are 2 shelving units (2X4), so that each of the babes can have one as they get older. It provides lots of space for toys, books, shoes, and baby stuff. I think my favorite part of the whole room is the color blocked wall. It extends down the entire length of the wall. It took a couple of days, but I think it turned out so well.
The babies' side.
That, my friends, is a hand painted wall thingy. :) (Actually, everything in this room is handmade because, A. I'm cheap, B. I love to create, C. I'm cheap. The canvases have been birdies, futuristic shapes from the robot room, and now monograms. Oh yeah, the other side of the Liam painting from the first picture is that big, fancy monogram painting from Liam's baby room. Did I mention I'm scrappy, too?

The window/ corner/ nursing area.

With birdie mobile, squeaky rocking chair, and cute curtains.

The wall opposite the window is just the closet- nothing special about that side. I took off the doors, though, and put up a curtain- the same color as the wall. Inside the closet is Liam's dresser. Oh, there's also a cabinet on the floor and shelves right above it on the right side of the crib. Also, nothing special- just a place for more baby stuff, humidifier, monitor, and some little trinkets.

I hope you've enjoyed this tour. :)

Easter buddies

Imagine the babies with cute shoes on that match their bow ties. Also, imagine that Jude didn't spit up all down the front of himself right before taking these pictures. Imagine Liam in the pictures wearing light pants, a blue and tan checked button-up, and a robin's egg blue vest. Imagine Mike wearing his light suit and a pink tie. And finally imagine me wearing a flowery skirt, pink top, and white cardigan. There, now you know what we looked like on Easter Sunday. :) I am seriously bad at taking photos these days- even on important days like Easter. But, here are a couple of the babies in their get-ups (mostly). That counts for something, right?

Pictures

I need to get batteries for my camera. For now, here are some recent pictures of the boys from my phone. :/

1. Both boys are strong enough to sit in the Bumbo. This is Lucas, showing off his skills. (February 15 ish)

They are getting stronger every day. Jude likes tummy time- Lucas gets mad. Jude can roll over from front to back. Lucas rolled at about 3 or 4 weeks old several times, but hasn't since. He is more rigid and stronger than Jude, but is stubborn, too, I think. He is not one to perform in any way. It is hard to get a picture of him smiling. Jude is a little more social and loves to perform for anyone who looks at him.

They still like to snuggle, most of the time. They kind of pick on each other sometimes, too. I will find Jude smiling and giggling while punching his brother in the face. Lucas likes to suck on whatever Jude puts in his face, be it fingers, ears, or blankets. (Jude on the left, Lucas on the right)

(Lucas on the left, Jude smiling on the right)

Liam likes to play with the boys- sometimes a little rougher than I'd like. For the most part, though, he is really sweet with them. He sings to them, reads to them, tries to feed them, gets them binkies and blankies. This particular day he couldn't wait for Jude to wake up from his nap before playing.

I finally caught Lucas smiling!

Copy and paste! (Lucas on the left, Jude on the right)

Today, April 4. Liam loves his brothers!

February 9

How's about some recent pictures?

We went for a walk. It was cold. The babies got belly aches.

Liam took this cute picture of Jude-a-roo.

Lukey-doo

Jude smiles quite a bit. The other day I was feeling a little frustrated. I think he may have sensed that. As I picked him up he put his cute little hand on my cheek and I looked at him. He had the sweetest little smile on his face. He continued to hold my cheek and smile at me, as if he was saying, "It's okay, Mommy." Made me smile, too, wouldn't you know it!

This cute little boy is much of the reason for my frustration. He's kind of a stinker. But a really cute, silly one.
