For My Wife

This is a repost, but it bears repeating, just as "I love you" and "you have made me a happy man" bear repeating. I am no poet, so I am grateful that moving sonnets like this exist. Sappy? You bet.

Sonnet XVII - Pablo Neruda
(100 Love Sonnets, 1960)

I don't love you as if you were the salt-rose, topaz
or arrow of carnations that propagate fire:
I love you as certain dark things are loved,
secretly, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that doesn't bloom and carries
hidden within itself the light of those flowers,
and thanks to your love, darkly in my body
lives the dense fragrance that rises from the earth.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where,
I love you simply, without problems or pride:
I love you in this way because I don't know any other way of loving

but this, in which there is no I or you,
so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand,
so intimate that when I fall asleep it is your eyes that close.

Taking Donations

You all know that we are having a baby. You all know that we are poor. Chelsie's sisters threw her a shower, and put on the invitations that we are registered at Walmart. Well, we weren't registered at the time, but decided to do so. Yes, we were forced/tricked into it. Regardless, here is our current registry. Anything helps. Thanks!

My wife was named 2009's Mother of the Year. It's true! Here is your proof.

I love you, Chelsie!

Turd Ferguson

Well, we went to the OB-GYN today, and it's official: we are having a Turd. Turd Ferguson, to be precise. He is expected to arrive on September 8, 2009. We are naming him after Burt Reynolds.

What's that? You don't know what I'm talking about? Well, first of all, I hope you never play Trivial Pursuit: Saturday Night Live Edition. However, for those of you who are unfamiliar with Burt=Turd=our baby, here is some education for you:

Here is photographic evidence:

PS: We wanted to name him after Juan and Keith, but couldn't decide between Keith Juan or Juan Keith. Which sounded better? Would either Juan or Keith feel jealous for being the middle name? So we abandoned that idea altogether. Just an FYI...

Progeny Brady: Genius Baby

This child will change the world:

We expect him/her to discharge from the womb sometime in September, at which point s/he will be given $100 to purchase new "job interview" clothing, and then go out and find a job, not unlike what happened to me (except that was immediately after my mission, not immediately after being birthed). However, we expect Progeny to be so advanced that formal training in reading/'riting/'rithmetic, speaking, or anything else, will not be necessary. Nor will a mission. His/her mission will be to change the world, and perhaps an LDS youth mission factors into that. These things are up to God, and may or may not be made known to us.

Message to Progeny: no pressure. Love you!

Am I Virile?

We will find out on January 19th when the Chels visits a local MD.

Disregard the shiny spots in the photo. I won't spell it out for you, because it's vulgar, but it is the opposite of what this guy is saying:
